Summary of Media Experience

October 2003-Present: Freelance Contributor - Get Out! Magazine Editor and Supervisor: Monica Stevens

For the last year I have been a freelance feature writer for Get Out! Magazine - an Arts and Entertainment monthly published by the Fresno Bee and the McClatchy Company. In addition to writing entertainment, feature and sports stories I have also been given a monthly humor column entitled "Been There, Done That."

April 2002 - Present: Freelance Copy Editor - Lindy's Publications Supervisors: Don Borst and Shawn O'Neal

I have served as one of the copy editors for the College Football and College Basketball Preview magazines for Lindy's Publications for the last two years. My duties include fact checking as well as editing and revising the files that I am assigned.

March 1999 - December 2002: Freelance Writer/Columnist - Sierra-Gateway Neighbors Community Publication Editors/Supervisors: Lisa Stubbs Boyles and Ruth Hill

I started my freelance tenure with the Sierra Gateway Neighbors (a weekly published by the McClatchy Company and inserted into the Fresno Bee) as a freelance feature writer and ended it as a Page One columnist. The publication was terminated by McClatchy at the conclusion of the 2002 publishing year.

September 1997 - February 2001: Beat Writer - Fresno State College Sports Xchange/Broadband Sports Inc. Editors/Supervisors: Don Borst, Dennis Dodd and Rick Vacek

I was part of the launching of College Sports Xchange - the largest Internet-based sports network in history. As the beat writer for Fresno State football and men's basketball, I contributed files twice a week during football season, once a week during basketball season, and worked on various other projects including the player ratings for EA Sports video games. I worked for the company until CSX's parent company - Broadband Sports - declared bankruptcy.

September 1995 - May 1999: The Daily Collegian Sports/News/Entertainment Writer; Features/Assignment Editor Editor: Derek Walter

I enjoyed a long tenure at The Daily Collegian, the student-run newspaper of Fresno State. I started in 1995 as a football beat writer and went on to serve as head news writer, head entertainment writer, features editor and assignment editor.

February 1995 - January 1999: Neighbors/Clovis Independent Freelance/Temporary/Part-Time Features and Sports Writer Editors: Patty Lippert, Valerie Canepa, Brian Fisher

In between USC and Fresno State I worked sporadically for two different community publications of the Fresno Bee - Neighbors and the Clovis Independent. Both publications were weeklies and my duties ranged from general feature writing to news to sports.

September 1993 - December 1994: The Daily Trojan Sports/Entertainment Writer; Assistant Sports Editor Editor(s): Jeff Wong, Roger Horne and Paul Goldberg

I started as a freshman covering cross country for the DT and in just three semesters advanced from Assistant Sports Editor to Sports Editor-Elect. Unfortunately, I was forced to transfer from USC to Fresno State before the Spring of 1995 when I would have served as Sports Editor of one of the top college sports sections in the country, despite being just a sophomore. I also did music reviews for two semesters for the Diversions section.
